Recorded at The Tank Center for Sonic Arts, a seven story tall steel water tank in Rangley, CO emblazoned with the name of the Railroad company for whom it was original created.
SOLOHAWK entered the studio for a night of recording with five songs prepared, but these are not the songs that appear on this EP. With the heavy atmosphere of the tank, and the waves of reverberation that swirl around with even the smallest sound, we had to pivot our approach. The songs heard here were created specifically for the environment they were recorded in. No artificial effects were added to these recordings.
There was a mic on each guitar, and vocal, but then there was one at the apex of the tank, another halfway down, a stereo pair that could be flown to various heights, and a binaural microphone in front of us.
Our experience at this magical place is contained in this EP, and in a short documentary (check our website).
We hope you enjoy this music as much as we enjoyed making it.
